Daily Life

Yesterday, we learned how to use the library effectively. For example, how to find the books in our subjects, how to get the information from Index quickly. I think index is very helpful and useful for our reading, because we can quickly find the information and content we want to query through index, which can save our time.

This morning, we learned some reading skills. For examples, three reading strategies (skimming, scanning, reading for detail) and how to surveying the article. In my opinion, reading different types of articles requires different strategies, because then we can quickly find the content and information we need. As for the Surveying the article, we could put forward some problems by reading the abstract so that we could search for answers to the problems more quickly when we read the essays, and we do not need to read all the text. This method was very efficient and I was very willing to try.

This afternoon, we mainly learned some presentation skills, which we have already learned and are familiar with in our undergraduate study (maybe because I majored in design in my undergraduate study, we need to constantly express our topic selection and design process). However, what impressed me most about this class was that it increased our confidence a lot. As English is my L2, there would be some grammar mistakes, pronunciation mistakes or improper words in my speaking. But I know these small mistakes can be forgiven. The most important thing is that we should dare to express our own opinions and keep practicing. This class has given me great encouragement.
